Near
the gardens on a small hill, stands the ruins of a dove côte of
a most unusual trefoil design. This was built to provide fresh meat in
the wintertime for the owners of Ballindoolin. It is also possible that
the pigeon house was built as a ruin to compliment the natural landscape.
There is an inscription over the door which states; "Built by Christopher
Bor Esq in 1781 AD" "The first stone was layed by his son Humphrey
aged 3 years and his wife Anne Loftus"
The Bor Family at that time lived in a nearby house and his son Humphrey
subsequently built Ballindoolin House in 1822.
